Yeah to the Year of the Ox

We couldn’t wait for 2020 and the year of the rat to be over. With the ox comes a new sense of optimism. Of course, we are far from being out of the woods and around the world a race between vaccines and the virus is full on. But we choose to smile as here, in Hong Kong, the festive spirit is tangible.

Flowers and the colour red are sprouting everywhere, a new energy is perceptible in the streets. People go, people come, in a never ending hustle and bustle. Chinese percussions are once again filling malls and supermarkets. Kids and grown ups alike will leave their Zoom, Teams, Skype sessions for a few days, with a loud sigh of relief. And families will gather soon, hopefully more than ever mindful of the contamination prevention measures in place. The latest HK government practice of “ambush lockdowns” triggered by a single COVID-19 case in a building are not very tempting at all. So let’s be careful.

As for us, at The Hong Kong Fixer film and video productions, this is the occasion to reflect on a year full of unexpected events and busy filmmaking. It included the production of a fun “archive edit” film while in lockdown, an intense nightly action shoot, new clients finding value in our storytelling processes and video output, waiting, hoping, developing our post-production chops (see our next post on color grading), developing resilience.

And now that the rat, the smartest and first in line of Chinese zodiac because he jumped ahead of the line by climbing on the ox’s shoulders, is finally gone, we are feeling full of renewed positive energy. We’d like to spread it around and send you our best wishes for the new year. And kisses! As with the ox comes XOXOs! We can’t wait to hear from you and learn about your film and video marketing, and production needs. Get in touch!

恭喜發財
